People Are Moving: Top Outbound States

EDITOR NOTE: Among all 50 states in the US, there are five currently undergoing a major exodus. Chances are good that you can figure them out--think high taxes and highly-dense metropolitan areas. Thanks to the virtualization and digitization of business operations, the workplace is trending toward decentralization. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said of the financial system. In the realm of the financial, where the concept of money itself is already “virtualized” (i.e. none of our money is backed by any tangible value), further digitization will lead to greater “centralization.” Of course, similar to people leaving states that pose more burdens than benefits, international investors are leaving the dollar. And once the dollar weakens further, along with the entire fiat system, we may be seeing an even greater exodus into gold and silver. Digital innovation is no substitute for tangible intrinsic value. And before that exodus occurs, we want to position ourselves well within the realm of monetary soundness before “real” scarcity kicks in.

It's easy to guess the states people are leaving. Can you guess the top states where people are headed?

I am disappointed the report did not have absolute numbers, making the study flawed.

Nonetheless, Idaho is interesting.

Idaho has made the top 10 each year since 2015, most of the time on the top of the list.

Congratulations to Idaho and of course Illinois in reverse, a state I have written about many times.

Q: Why does it take 3 weeks to leave Illinois?
A: Everyone is leaving and that is how long it took to schedule a one-way van out.

"Everyone is leaving. No one is coming," a U-Haul agent told us.

We love it here in Utah. The photo opportunism are endless. There are 7 national parks within 5 hours or so of where we live.
