Round Rock is a small but thriving city in the heart of Texas. Locals love its location within the Greater Austin metro area and Williamson County, but it wasn’t always in its current site. What became Round Rock was originally called Brushy because it was near the banks of Brushy Creek. In 1854, postal authorities asked the local postmaster to change the town’s name because Texas already had a city called Brushy. The postmaster took inspiration from the round rock in the middle of Brushy Creek, and Round Rock was born.
In 1876, the town center moved east to meet the new International and Great Northern Railroads. Round Rock’s original site, which is now known as Old Town, has been lovingly restored in celebration of the city’s roots. While the past is acknowledged in this historic quarter, Round Rock is a city looking forward. In 2009, Round Rock was listed as the second-fastest growing city in the United States.
Many of Round Rock’s new residents are interested in rare coins and bullion. If you’re planning to purchase gold, silver, or precious metals in Round Rock, TX, let this guide help you navigate some of the popular local dealers in the area.
