Continuing the remarkable tradition of the Queen's Beasts series, the Falcon of the Plantagenets marks the sixth exquisite release in this collection, crafted in .9999 fine Silver to commemorate its significance.
Back in 1953, during the coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, ten magnificent creatures stood guard at the entrance of Westminster Abbey. Known as the Queen's Beasts, these majestic six-foot tall statues symbolized the rich heritage and history inherited by Queen Elizabeth II on that momentous day. Honoring these royal protectors, a collection was brought to life in their name, which began when Queen Elizabeth II became the world's longest reigning living monarch.
The Falcon of the Plantagenets was passed down to Queen Elizabeth II through Edward IV. The larger Falcon clutches a shield depicting a smaller falcon perched atop a golden fetterlock, partly open, representing Edward's rightful claim to the throne. Later, the Falcon was embraced by Henry VIII and officially recognized as a royal beast during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.
